Giannis Mastoros

Giannis Mastoros was born on the island of Kos. He started dancing since he was really young, and was a member of many school dance groups, presenting Greek traditional dances at many events and festivals.

In 1987, he was a member of many local dancing cultural clubs, and presented a wide variety of Greek dances, not only at Festivals in Kos but all over Greece.

During his Business Administration studies in Athens, he was teaching the dance group in Kos, Greek traditional dances from all over Greece.

Dancing Greek dances has become his favorite hobby throughout the years. He has participated in many festivals, both in Greece and abroad, dancing Greek traditional and folk dances from all over Greece.

Giannis has been teaching Greek traditional dances to children and adults for the last 12 years at the cultural club “Arion” in Kos. They have traveled with its adult dancing group, not only to many different areas in Greece but to many foreign countries, in where they have participated in many traditional festivals. Their aim was to present the traditional dances and songs of their island.

His passion for the Greek traditional dances focused on the research of material and its recordings. He had also uncovered many references based on local traditional dances and songs, aiming to present them through dancing lessons and through seminars.

In addition, he is a co-producer of a radio show at the local radio station called (www.ekfrasifm.com). The radio show is called, “Mprovalete-Mprovalete”, which is based on his local traditional music. On Facebook, “Mprovalete-Mprovalete draseis” highlights all the folklore elements of Kos.
