Panagiotis Bouras was born in Montreal, Canada and started playing the Cretan Lyra at age 17. He studied with Dimitris Vakakis in Greece and was influenced by legendary Cretan musicians such as Leonidas Klados, Kostas Mountakis, and Thanasis Skordalos.
During his summer visits to Crete, he would regularly gather with local musicians to practice, learn, and deepen his connection to the tradition. He has also been teaching the Cretan Lyra to local students in Montreal and has performed in major cities across Canada, sharing his love for Cretan music with audiences nationwide.
